"When a gun (Mark 7 16in gun) is fired, the gun begins to go back to battery, or a 5 degree loading angle. At that point a new shell comes up from below (the battery), the breach is opened, then a shell is rammed home with a rammer. Three bag of powder comes out of this hoist right here, and they are rammed home. Then another three bags come down from the door, onto the spanning tray, into the gun. The rammer is ejected, the breach blocker is closed, and the gun is fired. This happen every 30 seconds, with 1930’s technology. There is no computers involved, it all analog technology and hard training. It’s an amazing demonstration of gunnery. This is probably the absolute epitome of gunnery evolution."
